All kids should follow their dreams and don’t let others tell you that you can’t do it, even if you have learning differences.  Focus, work hard, and say to yourself “There’s nothing you can do to stop me.”

Christopher Shiveley Welch enjoys guitar, swimming, fishing and, of course, bullfrog hunting.

Christopher was born in Westerville, Ohio with a moderately severe clefting of the lip, gums and hard and soft palates, and has several learning differences.  Chris is ADD, Dysgraphic and has Working Memory and Executive Function Deficit.

Chris is adopted and very proud of it.  “I like being a ‘very special child.’  I was chosen, and I think that is something very nice.  It’s cool that Mom wrote a book about it, just for me.  I think I may adopt some day too.”

His goal in life is to be a veterinarian or a naturalist and he intends to continue to write.

Christopher Bullfrog Catcher was written by Christopher at eleven-years-of-age, and scribed by his mother, who also wrote its introduction.  Christopher Bullfrog Catcher is available through Saga Books www.sagabooks.net., Amazon at www.amazon.com and Barnes and Noble at www.barnesandnoble.com.

Christopher’s second book, Just Chris, an autobiography documenting his memories of growing up with a deformity, his fight to overcome several learning differences, his delight in being adopted, and his incredible love for the lake on which he was raised, will be available this spring.

Currently Christopher is working on Christopher Meets Buddy, a book on how to properly care for a pet bird, and as co-author with his mother on Christopher’s Family Table, a companion cook book to Son of my Soul - The Adoption of Christopher, his mother’s current project.

Christopher can be reached through his mother’s email address at DebraWelch@DebraShiveleyWelch.net.
